Ingredients
🥄 Fresh baguette
🥄 1 lb sirloin steak
🥄 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (divided)
🥄 2 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped
🥄 2 cloves garlic, minced
🥄 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
Instructions
👨🍳 Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into ½-inch thick slices, placing them on a baking sheet. Drizzle each slice with 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and lightly season with salt and pepper. Toast the slices in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they’re golden and crisp. Remove and set aside.
👨🍳 Season the sirloin steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Once cooked, remove the steak and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
👨🍳 In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic with the chopped parsley or chives. Once the steak is sliced, combine it with this herb mixture and gently toss to coat.
👨🍳 To serve, place a slice of the toasted baguette on each plate. Spoon the seasoned steak onto the crostini and drizzle each with 1 tablespoon of balsamic glaze. The glaze should be applied just before serving to maintain its glossy finish and prevent it from becoming too thick.
Notes
For the best results, choose a high-quality sirloin steak. The meat should be well-marbled and free of excessive fat. If you’re unsure about doneness, use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 130°F for medium-rare, which is ideal for this recipe. The texture of the baguette is crucial. If you prefer a softer crust, bake the slices for a few minutes less. If you enjoy a more robust, crunchy bite, extend the baking time slightly. Experiment to match your preference.
