These Oyster Shell Cream Wafers are a delightful combination of crispy, golden shells and creamy interiors, perfect for any special occasion or everyday treat.

  • Total Time: 530
  • Yield: 6-8 servings

Ingredients

✓ * Squaw Bread: The Dark, Sweet Bread That Sat on Every 1970s Table
✓ 2 cups all-purpose flour
✓ 3/4 cup granulated sugar
✓ 1 tsp baking powder
✓ Pinch of salt
✓ 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly

Instructions

✓ Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease oyster shell or clam shell molds.

✓ In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well mixed.

✓ Add the melted butter; mix again until just combined—avoid overmixing as it can toughen the wafers.

✓ Fill each mold about 2/3 full with batter. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until lightly golden and springy.

Notes

Ensure molds are preheated before adding batter to avoid sticking. Adjust sweetness as needed based on the squaw bread used.
