Ingredients
- 1 pie crust
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch tart pan. Trim the edges.
- In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle the bacon and shredded Gruyère cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese in the pie crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let the quiche cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and add sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
- Quiche can be served warm or at room temperature.
