Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch tart pan. Trim the edges.
  3. In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Sprinkle the bacon and shredded Gruyère cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese in the pie crust.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let the quiche cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and add sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
