Description

Msemen is a traditional Moroccan flatbread known for its flaky texture and rich flavor, often enjoyed with honey or jam.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup fine semolina
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, semolina, salt, and sugar.
  2. Gradually add warm water, kneading until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Mix the melted butter and oil in a small bowl.
  5. On a lightly oiled surface, flatten each dough ball into a thin circle.
  6. Brush the surface with the butter-oil mixture.
  7. Fold the dough into a square, brushing with more butter-oil mixture as you fold.
  8. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and cook each msemen until golden brown on both sides.
  9. Serve warm with honey or jam.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough is well-kneaded for the best texture.
