Laotian Larb is a traditional Southeast Asian dish known for its zesty and refreshing flavors, combining minced meat with fresh herbs and lime.

- 500g minced meat (chicken, pork, or beef)
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 3 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon toasted rice powder
- 2 shallots, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1/4 cup fresh green onions, chopped
- 1-2 Thai chilies, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a pan over medium heat, cook the minced meat until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the meat cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked meat with fish sauce, lime juice, and toasted rice powder. Mix well.
- Add the shallots, mint leaves, cilantro, green onions, and Thai chilies to the meat mixture. Toss everything together until well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and additional lime juice if needed.
- Serve the larb with fresh lettuce leaves or steamed rice.
Notes
- Adjust the number of chilies according to your spice preference.
- Toasted rice powder can be made by toasting uncooked rice in a dry pan until golden brown, then grinding it into a fine powder.
