Japanese Miso Glazed Carrots are a sweet-savory umami delight, perfect as an elegant side dish.
Ingredients
- 500g carrots, peeled and cut into sticks
- 2 tablespoons white miso paste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon mirin (or mirin alternative)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a small bowl, mix together the miso paste, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, and water until smooth.
- Place the carrot sticks on a baking sheet and pour the miso glaze over them, tossing to coat evenly.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the carrots are tender and slightly caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For a mirin alternative, you can use a mixture of rice vinegar and sugar.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
