Description

Japanese Miso Glazed Carrots are a sweet-savory umami delight, perfect as an elegant side dish.


Ingredients

  • 500g carrots, peeled and cut into sticks
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (or mirin alternative)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon water


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the miso paste, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, and water until smooth.
  3. Place the carrot sticks on a baking sheet and pour the miso glaze over them, tossing to coat evenly.
  4. Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the carrots are tender and slightly caramelized.
  5. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For a mirin alternative, you can use a mixture of rice vinegar and sugar.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
