Description
Greek Spanakopita Triangles are irresistibly crispy and cheesy pastries filled with a savory mixture of spinach, feta cheese, and herbs, wrapped in delicate filo pastry.
Ingredients
- 1 package of filo pastry sheets
- 500g fresh spinach, washed and chopped
- 200g feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100g butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
- Add the chopped spinach to the pan and cook until wilted. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a bowl, combine the cooked spinach mixture with crumbled feta, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Lay a sheet of filo pastry on a clean surface and brush with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again.
- Cut the filo into strips about 3 inches wide.
- Place a tablespoon of the spinach mixture at one end of each strip. Fold the corner of the strip over the filling to form a triangle. Continue folding the strip in a triangle shape until you reach the end.
- Place the triangles on a baking sheet and brush the tops with more melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the filo pastry is covered with a damp cloth while working to prevent it from drying out.
- These triangles can be frozen before baking for up to 2 months.
