Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 2 cups Sulguni cheese, grated
  • 2 eggs


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  6. Divide the dough into two equal parts and roll each into a circle.
  7. Place the grated Sulguni cheese in the center of each circle, leaving a border around the edges.
  8. Fold the edges over the cheese to form a boat shape, pinching the ends to seal.
  9. Crack an egg into the center of each khachapuri.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden and the egg is set.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Georgian Khachapuri.
