Ingredients
- 500g filo pastry
- 300g feta cheese
- 4 eggs
- 100ml yogurt
- 50ml sunflower oil
- 1 tsp baking soda
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, crumble the feta cheese and mix it with the eggs, yogurt, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
- Grease a baking dish with sunflower oil.
- Layer a sheet of filo pastry in the dish and brush it with oil.
- Spread a portion of the cheese mixture over the filo.
- Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of filo.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Banitsa can be served warm or at room temperature.
- For a richer flavor, add a bit of melted butter between the filo layers.
