Description
Ambuyat is a traditional Bruneian dish made from the starchy interior of the sago palm, often enjoyed with a variety of flavorful dipping sauces.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sago starch
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Assorted dipping sauces (e.g., spicy sambal, sour lime sauce)
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Gradually add the sago starch to the boiling water, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Continue stirring until the mixture becomes thick and translucent.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Serve the ambuyat with a selection of dipping sauces.
Notes
- Ambuyat is traditionally eaten using a bamboo fork called ‘chandas’.
