Ingredients

  • 1 can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Pita bread
  • Tahini sauce
  • Fresh vegetables for serving (e.g., lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still slightly chunky.
  3. Form the mixture into small balls or patties and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Brush the falafel with olive oil to help them crisp up in the oven.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Warm the pita bread in the oven for a few minutes.
  7. Assemble the wraps by placing falafel in the pita bread, adding fresh vegetables, and drizzling with tahini sauce.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade street food delight!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a squeeze of lemon juice to the falafel mixture.
  • These falafels can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to customize the wraps with your favorite vegetables and sauces.
